ICJ President Peter Tomka reads the Judgment of the International Court of Justice on the question of compensation in the case concerning Ahmadou Sadio Diallo (Republic of Guinea v. Democratic Republic of the Congo). This session took place, exceptionally, in the Auditorium of the Hague Academy of International Law. The ICJ's role is to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States (its Judgments are final and binding) and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by authorized UN organs and agencies.
